It is important to keep a cars service work recorded and up-to-date. Especially when retaining a full Volkswagen service history can help to preserve the future resale value of a car. The new Digital Service Schedule will ensure this important record is kept as accurately and secure as possible.
What’s changed?
The Digital Service Schedule will work alongside the traditional service book until May 2017 when the service book (or schedule as its sometimes known) will disappear from the vehicle information wallet completely. From May 2017 the service history will only be created and stored digitally in a Volkswagen central database. You will receive either a printout or a pdf copy (your choice) of the entire service record to keep with your vehicle documentation (see below for more details). Service schedule information and the vehicle data sticker (to help when ordering parts or accessories) will now be in the owners handbook.
Greater security
Your printout or pdf copy of your car’s service history will have a security code. This can be verified by your local Volkswagen Retailer to check for authenticity, and provides additional security when buying or selling a used Volkswagen in the future. The record will be stored by Volkswagen for the lifetime of the vehicle. No personal information is held on this system, only the vehicle’s service history.
Peace of mind
You’ll never need to worry about your service record being lost, damaged or altered. That’s because our digital service record can instantly be accessed by any Volkswagen Retailer in the UK, and reprinted whenever you may need it. So if for any reason you need to change your local Volkswagen retailer, it’s simple to make the switch. And as we’ll update your records digitally when you come in for a service, there won’t be any missing records when you come to sell the vehicle.
Availability
The Digital Service Schedule is applicable to all Volkswagen models produced from May 2016 onwards, including all New Tiguan models. All vehicles built before this date will continue to have the service history recorded in the traditional paper service schedule booklet only.
